GOLD MEDAL AUTHORS HONORED AT PIRATE’S ALLEY FAULKNER SOCIETY RECEPTION

From : Nola.com

From a gold medal to a published book: Four authors, who have won accolades from judges and the admiration of a select group of readers, will now see their tales reach the hands of a broader audience.

Authors Frederick Barton, “In the Wake of the Flagship”; Moira Crone, “The Ice Garden”; Jennifer Steil, “The Ambassador’s Wife”; and J. Ryan Stradal, “Kitchens of the Great Midwest” – all previous gold medals winners (fiction) in the William Faulkner – William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition — have had their award-winning pieces published.

On Sunday (Aug. 9), the Pirate’s Alley Faulkner Society, which puts on the competition, was joined by the Louisiana State Museum to commemorate the authors’ success at a reception at the Cabildo in the French Quarter.

Society co-founders Rosemary James and Joe DeSalvo were on hand, as were a number of society supporters, fellow authors and book lovers. Each author read from his or her published novels, then answered questions and signed books.
